Notice of Public Hearing: February 24, 2021

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of North Hempstead, in the County of Nassau, State of New York, will hold a public hearing on February 24, 2021, at 7:00 P.M. (Prevailing Time), or as soon thereafter as this matter can be heard to consider any and all comments in relation to the proposed increase and improvement of facilities of the Roslyn Water District, consisting of water distribution and treatment system upgrades and improvements to address new drinking water standards and to enhance District infrastructure, including (i) installation of new Advanced Oxidation Process and Granular Activated Carbon treatment systems at Plant No. 4; (ii) installation of a new Granular Activated Carbon treatment system at Plant No. 5; (iii) installation of a new Advanced Oxidation Process treatment system at Plant No. 8; (iv) replacement of fuel oil tanks at Plant Nos. 1, 5 and 6; (v) installation of a new generator at Plant No. 3 and (vi) improvements to the District’s water distribution and treatment systems to address emergency contaminants at Plant Nos. 1 through 8, inclusive (collectively, the “Project”), at the estimated maximum cost of $33,268,727, including any ancillary or related work necessary in connection therewith. The District expects to finance the $33,268,727 cost of said Project with bonds.

Due to public health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, the Town Board will not be meeting in-person. In accordance with the Governor’s recent Executive Orders, said public hearing of the Town Board will be held via videoconferencing, and a transcript will be provided at a later date. The public will have an opportunity to see and hear the meeting live and provide comments.

The public may watch the public hearing live online from the following link on the Town’s website: www.northhempsteadny.gov/townboardlive or participate using Zoom Meeting. Members of the public participating using the Zoom Meeting app can provide comments on the Project and the financing thereof, during the meeting. The Zoom Meeting ID and Password will be made available on the Town’s website (www.northhempsteadny.gov) at least 24 hours prior to the start of the public hearing. First-time users of the Zoom Meeting app will need to download the app prior to the meeting.

Any comments and/or questions will be considered at the public hearing provided that they are submitted no later than 60 minutes prior to the start of the public hearing.

Pursuant to the requirements of the Executive Orders of the Governor of the State of New York, a transcript of the public hearing will be prepared, and a copy shall be filed with the Town Clerk and placed upon the Town’s website (https://www.northhempsteadny.gov).
